13 Heshvan 5773
As the winds pick up, I cannot help but to think that this is all a tremendous Berakhah in disguise. The world around us is currently on hold, and all we have to do is just be alone in private with our Creator, HaKadosh Barukh Hu. Its just us and Him. What a blessing! Take this opportunity to become closer to Him, to talk with Him, to daven, to ask Him to protect us and the rest of His children. Take time to do some Heshbon HaNefesh, spiritual accounting, and consider how we can improve ourselves. This is a tremendous Et Rasson to daven and do Teshuvah.
In the face of this storm however, it is very important to take proper and necessary measures towards our own safety and the safety of those around us. Ensure that all loose objects outside are either tied down or brought inside. Cover all windows and push freestanding objects against the wall. Have adequate means of light (flashlights and candles) nearby. Take care to place candles in a safe location, away from flammable objects. Store enough nonperishable food and water in a dry and safe place for all to use. Keep your Siddur and Tehillim nearby as well :)
ASIDE FROM THESE PHYSICAL PREPARATIONS, WE MUST TAKE SPIRITUAL MEASURES TO ENSURE OUR SAFETY. Keep strong and do not lose faith. This is all coming straight from the Ribono Shel Olam. It is highly recommended to give SEDAKAH, since Sedakah is known to save lives. Additionally, Tefillah is integral to ensuring one's safety in all life situations. I recommend for us all to recite Tehillim for each other during this time. Perek 121 and 130 are suggested. Even after these Perakim, just keep davening, this is precisely what HaShem requires of us at these times.
I apologize if I haven't responded to incoming emails over the past few days. BH beli neder I will see to it soon. I would like to thank all those who made Hakhnasat Kallah donations thus far, you are doing an ENORMOUS Missvah on so many levels. May this be a big zekhout to ensuring our safety. Tizku leMissvot Rabbot!
Stay strong Sadikot, this is a Berakhah straight from HaShem. Use this precious time, when we have time off from our hectic and mundane lives, to reflect, to daven, to bond with HaShem and simply just be with Him. Spend this time to get closer with your loved ones and enjoy the time off. Now is the time to really start Living. Please let me know if I could be of any assistance to anyone in any way. I am davening for each and every one of your well being. May we only have Bessorot Tovot and emerge from this 'test' successful and stronger than ever. Kol Tuv Sadikot!
With much love and care,
--MidrESHET Hayil
