Beroukhot HaBaot to all the Sadikot who have newly joined the MidrESHET Hayil group! BH we will be resuming the Halakhot we were learning before Pesah this year. Halakhot previously covered are posted on http://www.midreshethayil.com/ under 'Halakhot Outline'. Enjoy!
Halakhot of Tefilat HaDerekh:
6. (part a) A woman traveling for at least 72 minutes straight on an intercity road (from city to city), she says Tefilllat HaDerekh with a Berakhah—this includes bus and train.

6. (part b) if a woman travels from city to city less than 72 minutes, she doesn't say Tefillat HaDerekh with a Berakhah.
BH we are considering to hold and intensive one month 'crash course' totaling 6 college credits this summer at the MidrESHET HAYIL Seminary in the mornings (probably in August) for less than 150 dollars a credit. Please email me back if you or anyone you know would be interested!! Kol Tuv!!

6. (part c) if the trip is at least 72 minutes combined between going there and back in the same day, even though each way is less than 72 minutes, she would say Tefillat HaDerekh WITH a Berakhah.

*Please email me back if you live outside the United States. Todah Rabbah!*
6. (part d) if a trip is at least 72 minutes combined between going there and back, but the way there is less than 72 minutes (like half an hour), and she stays there over night and returns the next day, traveling for about an hour—the two trips don't combine and she does NOT recite Tefillat HaDerekh with a Berakhah.

7. The minhag to have a Bat Missvah celebration and meal is a good and proper one and there is a Missvah in this to strengthen the education to Benot Yisrael. It is good to have Rabbanim speak there Divrei Torah, and sing songs and praises to HaShem Yitbarakh.
It is very clear and understood that one should protect with vigilance the rules of Seniout according to our Torah HaKedoshah. It is also proper for the Bat Missvah girl to wear a new garment and recite the Berakhah of Sheheheyanou.
