TODAY IS ROSH HODESH IYAR!!
Tonight is 16 Days to the Omer
As we learned, each of the seven weeks of Sefirat haOmer corresponds to one of the seven lower Sefirot (characteristics by which HaKadosh Barukh Hu reveals Himself in this world; there are ten total Sefirot). They are: Hesed (lovingkindness), Gevurah (justice and discipline), Tipheret (harmony, compassion), Nessah (endurance), Hod (humility), Yesod (bonding) and Malkhut (sovereignty, leadership). Each day of each week is also associated with one of these same seven sefirot, creating a total of forty-nine permutations, one for each day of the Sefirat haOmer. Symbolically, each of these 49 permutations represents an aspect of each person's character that can be improved or further developed before we can be fitting to receive the Torah HaKedoshah on Shavuot.
For the next few weeks, BS''D each day we will learn how we can develop our middot according to each day's corresponding middah.
**During the third week of the Counting the Omer, we examie the attribute of Tiferet, or compassion. Tiferet harmonizes the free outpouring love of Hesed from week 1 and the discipline of Gevurah from week 2 by introducing the third dimension of truth.
Day 15-Hesed of Tiferet: Lovingkindess in Compassion
Examine the love aspect of compassion. Is my compassion tender and loving or does it come across as pity? Is my sympathy condescending and patronizing? Does my compassion overflow with love and warmth? is it expressed with enthusiasm or is it static and lifeless?
Exercise for the Day: When helping someone, extend yourself in the fullest way, offer a smile or a loving gesture.
HODESH TOV U'MEVORAKH!
