Hodesh Tevet has been a month of diffuculties and destruction for Kelal Yisrael. This was the month where Yeroushalayim was attacked by Nebuhadnessar, king of Bavel. On the tenth of Tevet, he laid a siege on the city, which resulted in the walls being breached on the 17th Tamuz, three years later. This is why we fast on that day. However, the month of Tevet has the symbol of a goat, known as a Gedi in Hebrew and a letter of ע (Ayin). This month is also ruled by the tribe of Dan who is represented with a snake (perhaps an allusion to destruction). What does this all mean? Although Hodesh Tevet may be characterized by hardships, there is a way to rectify this and turn it all around. It depends on that ע (Ayin). Ayin in Hebrew means 'eye'. We need to have a good eye this month, a positive eye. We need to see things always as good. It helps to know that the the gematria of 'Gedi' is 17, which is the same gematra as 'Tov', good. We need to be like that Gedi. We need to have a 'good ayin' this whole entire month in order to escape the bite of the snake representing Dan. If we are able to do so, we can very well bring Mashiah with the power, since the same gematria of the word snake , 'nahash' equals 358, which is the same exact gematria of the word 'Mashiah'. Amazing right?
Be'ezrat HaShem may this be a hodesh full of light and positivity, of a good eye. May it be a month of Simhah, Berakhah and Hasslaha Rabbah, a month of Bessort Tovot for all of Kelal Yisrael, the month we finally come face to face with Mashiah ben David, BiMeherah BeYamenu, Amen! Hodesh Tevet Tov uMevorakh!!!!
